1130-Hildred "rendered accounts to the exchequer for farms at Carlisle"; later he granted land to the priory of Wetherhill.
It is suspected that Hildred descended from Maldred, a brother of Duncan I of Scotland (reigned from 1034-1040), who was killed by his half brother Thorfinn, Earl of Orkney, this Thorfin is suspected by Dorothy Dunnett (author of "King Hereafter") as being the inspiration for the character Macbeth.
