Records of Marjorie Bennion of Weiser, Idaho: Notes written by Amelia
Jane Walker, niece. "This man (Allen Simcock) married my Aunt (Betsy
we called her); she had no children. He was a very intelligent man. He
helped to perfect the first electric light that was shown in Manchester
about 1860, maybe a little earlier than that. He went to France to work
there and lived there five years. He died quite young.
Aunt Betsy married again to Joseph Newton; he was a well-to-do man, a
very fine man, too, and was very good to us children whenever we went
to see them. He was a large, portly man, good natured, and very good
hearted, which made us children like to go and see him, of course.
