John Stewart and Mary Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on December 28th, 1865. They had four sons and five daughters, named Allen M.., Hugh, Thomas B., Joe, Belle, Fannie, Genie, Maude and Nettie.

Hugh was born in 1867 in Georgia. He died at the age of 71 in 1938 in Georgia. He was buried in Ebenezer Methodist Church,Ashland,Georgia.1
