His paternal grandparents were Hugh ,Jr. Warren and Elizabeth Unknown; his maternal grandfather was William Squire Skaggs and his maternal grandmother is Mary Pierce. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Mitchell, William S., Lewis, Joseph Patrick, Daniel, Nancy J., Elizabeth, Polly and Cyntha. He is the oldest of the ten children.General Notes
