Taken from the book Thomas Faulconer Descendants and Related Tidewater Va. Families, by James G Faulconer and Tommy L. West:
John Comber's Sussex Genealoqies traces several lines of the Faulconer family back to the late 1500s. While none of these lines are explicitly connected to our Thomas Faulconer, born in 1596, there is little question but what they are related. The Faulconer name varies in its spelling, as it does in the USA, but, only in this part of England is it generally "Faulconer."
On August 28, 1615, Thomas Faulkner married Margaret Underhill in Twineham Parish, Sussex County. This is quite possibly the same Thomas and Margaret who came to Virginia in 1622. Our Thomas was 28 years old when he came to this country, meaning he was born in 1594.
Note: One of the oldest churches still standing in Virginia is St. Luke's Church in Smithfield. It was built of brick in 1632, and while its early records are lost, it is known that its first minister was Thomas Faulconer/Faulkner.
My files are a collection from many sources and many are not documented by me. Most relate to Weakley Co., TN in some way. Included are many Confederate and Union Veterans of the Civil War.
