Sheldon C. was born on October 9th, 1912 in Indian Gap,Texas/ Hamilton Co. Texas. Sheldon C.'s father was Martin Travis Allen and his mother was Lillian Janice Giles. His paternal grandparents were William Barrett Travis Allen and Mary Elizabeth Snider; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Milton Giles and Margaret Clementine McCowen. He had a brother and four sisters, named Spurgeon, Thelma Elizabeth, Floy, Doris Eugenia and Janice Waldene. He was the third oldest of the six children.
