His paternal grandparents were Miles Norton Allen and Mary Penelope Dodson; his maternal grandparents were John L. Johnson and Eliza McGee. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, Miles Johnson, John Linder, Jack L., Winnie Margaret, Susan Penelope and Mary Eliza. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 94 in January 1960 in Abilene,Taylor Co.,Texas.-
