Matthew I de Lorraine

Matthew I was born about 1119. Matthew I's father was Simon I de Lorraine and his mother was Adelaide de Hainault. His paternal grandparents were Dietrich II of Alsace and Upper Lorraine and Hedwig von Formbach; his maternal grandparents were Baldwin II (VII of Flanders) of Hainault and Alix de Louvain. He had four sisters named Agathe, Helvide, Mathilde and Gertrude. He was the second youngest of the five children. He died in 1176.
