Alias:<ALIA> Winefred\Winneford /Catlitt/, Winny
Could she be the grandaughter/great-grandaughter of John Catlett of
Manassas Gap (died 1816 in Frederick County, Virginia and his wife Rachel
Rosell who were married January 22, 1777 in Fauquier County, Virginia)?
They had the following children: Robert, Peter, and Winifred. She could
be the daughter of Peter Catlett and named after her aunt Winifred.
Or could she be a descendant of Charles Jefferson Catlett born about
1784 in Virginia and his wife Anne "Nancy" Fairfax (daughter of Lord
Bryan Fairfax ) born 1783 of Northern Neck Virginia-found in 1810
Frederick County, Virginia census? Charles and Anne married in May 1,
1806 in Woodville County, Virginia. That could explain the naming of
WIlliam and Winny's first son, Charles.
There's also a possibility that she could be the daughter of William
Catlett (born 1790 in VA) of Frederick County, Virginia and his wife
Sarah Hovermale Catlett (born 1792 in VA or about 1802 in Morgan County,
Virginia). One son of this family (Demanuel/Emanuel) was born about 1825
and married Francis "Fannie" Kerns, daughter of Elisha Kerns of
Hampshire County, VA (now West Virginia). There is a William Catlett
listed in the 1830 census for Morgan County, VA and Frederick County, VA.
Census note: There is a Peter Catlett listed in the 1850 Hampshire
County, Virginia census.
