Elsey was born in 1795 in Brooke Co., Virginia. Elsey's father was Conrad Peterson and her mother was Maria Williamson. Her paternal grandparents were Pieter Petersen and Maria Lowe Pittenger; her maternal grandparents are Jores Williamson and Kaseya. She had two brothers and four sisters, named David, Peter, Mary, Rachel, Charity and Sarah. She died about 1875 in Iowa.-
