Allen Brown, son of John Brown and Jane Belcher Brown, married Emma Bolton in 1885. They had a family of 6 sons and 2 daughters as follows: Luter, Edward, Walter, Fred, Frank, Clyde, Vergie and Mary. Thes children were born on their father's farm and grew up near Princeton. The father was a farmer and dairyman.
Luther, the oldest child and son, married Guiley Johnson Bailey. They have no children. Luther died many years ago.
Edward died at the age of 14
Fred died at the age of 9
Walter, the third son, married Margaret McLeod. They have no family
Frank, the 5th son, is an optometrist. He married Cleopatra Lawson and lives in the coal fields.
Clyde, the 6 th son is a public accountant and lives in Roanoke, Virginia. He married Faynella Hopper and has no family that I know of
Virgie, the oldest daughter, was a young lady of most pleasing personality and fine accomplishments, a teacher of some note. She married J. C. Corockett of one of the outstanding families of Mercer County. They became the parents of two children.
Mary, the younger daughter, remained on the homeplace for several years where she became a business farmer of more than ordinary ability. She recently sold the farm because she was unable to secure competent help. Mary is single.
Allen was also a successful teacher for many years as well as prominent in public affairs and business. He at one time served a term as a member of the County Clerk
