Eliza Barton was born in 1854 in Muskingum County,Ohio. Eliza Barton's father was Thomas Bealmear and her mother was Elizabeth S. Barton. Her paternal grandparents were Francis Bealmear and Elizabeth Anderson; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Laurence Barton and Elizabeth C. Pierce. She had a brother and a sister, named James Barton and Julia Barton. She was the oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named William Augustus, Henry Miller, Harry, child, Helen Virginia (Jennie), Susan Ann and Fanny Elizabeth.-
