Her paternal grandparents were Paul Vanasse and Barbe Mancel; her maternal grandparents were Pierre Fournier and Jeanne Buson. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Nicolas Vanasse Dit, Francois Vanasse, Sebastien Jean Baptiste, Claude, Etienne, Catherine, Jeanne, Marguerite, Marie Anne and Gabrielle. She was the second oldest of the eleven children.-
