I rechecked my records, the first Kentuckey Census was in 1790 and the
second Kentucky census was in 1800, but both sets of census records for
Kentucky were destroyed in the War of 1812 also. Some census records have
been re-created for Kentucky for those years using tax records. There were
no Rileys in Campbell Co. KY on the 1790 Kentucky tax list. The only John
Riley in Campbell Co. was the other Riley family, the one who came there
from Cecil Co. Maryland. There is a Thomas Riley on the 1800 Washington Co.
Kentucky tax list, howevet there is also a Miles Riley on that same
Washington Co. Kentucky tax list, so that Thomas Riley is probably not ours.
I think it is safe to assume that our Rileys were still in Virginia in
1800 and moved shortly thereafter to Kentucky, especially since we do have
marriage records for several Waymans in Kentucky before 1810, and since both
Thomas and his son John are listed on the 1810 Census.
Also, I don't have the marriage dates for John Riley and Frances Wayman, nor
for Thomas Riley, Jr, the second son of Thomas and Elizabeth, but according
to the Wayman records, James Riley, the first born child of John Riley and
Frances Wayman was born 4 Jul 1801 in Campbell Co. KY.
