  From the "Bates County Democrat" Thursday, November 21,
  1918 MRS. ED POWELL DIES
  
  Mrs. Ed Powell died about noon Friday, November 15, 1918,
  of pneumonia, which set in folling influenza. Funeral
  services were conducted Saturday morning at ten o'clock in
  the yard of the home, near the Butler Lake, by Rev. J. W.
  Alexander, and burial made in Oak Hill cemetery. Mrs.
  Powell is survived by her husband and five children, the
  youngest of whom is but a day old. She was born in Kansas,
  January 25, 1885.
