Uncle Joe's father was Mante Isaiah Lartey and his mother was Ruth Bennett.  His paternal grandparents were Nana Dompreh and <Unknown>.  He was the fifth of six children.  He had a brother and four sisters, named Wofa Atta, Mary, Maafio, Enisia and Awo.  He had a half-brother named Papa Kofi.  He died in 1983.
