"OSHYER—HANSEN
On May 15 the Central Methodist Church, Gill Street, was the scene of an interesting and pretty wedding, when Thomas Avison, fourth son of Mr. P. Oshyer, Charters Towers, was united in the bonds of matrimony to Florence Margaret, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hansen, of Bell View, Mt. Leyshon, the Rev. S. Y. Potter officiating. Miss Elsie Whyte presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, was radiant in bridal array, her choice being a classical gown of white silk lace featuring the new round collar, with buttons from neck to waist, the gown finishing with a long train. The beautiful veil, worn with a halo of orange blossoms, was kindly lent by the bride's sister, Mrs J. Hayward. The bride carried an exquisite bouquet of eucharis lilies and fern bound with silver and satin streamers (the gift of Mrs. J. Grievesmuhl). Two bridesmaids, Misses Beatrice Oshyer (Brisbane) and Ruby Hansen, assisted the bride. They were gowned in Coronation blue and rose pink georgette respectively, both frocks heavily pleated. Orange blossom coronets completed their toilette. They carried bouquets of pink chrysanthemums. Mr. David Oshyer supported the groom as best man, while Mr. Ernest Neil Hansen carried out the duties of groomsman. After the ceremony the wedding party repaired to the Town Hall, which was magnificently decorated with the bridesmaids' colours, mingled with coronation shades by the Hayward and Oshyer brothers. Mrs. Hansen, assisted by Mrs. Buckby (sister of the groom), received one hundred and twenty guests. Mrs. Hansen wore a tailored frock of grey floral crepe-de-chene, while Mrs. Buckby chose a smart gown of brown figured flat crepe. Both hostesses carried bouquets of pink chrysanthemums. The breakfast table was the centre of admiration, pride of place being given to the three-tiered cake (the gift of the bride's mother).
Over the heads of bride and groom was suspended a huge white wedding bell. Mr. W. Sytnes presided at the breakfast. Dancing and games were indulged in till midnight. Congratulatory telegrams were read, and many costly presents, including cheques, were presented to the young couple. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a large cabinet of cutlery, and to the bridesmaids gold brooches in the de- sign of true lovers' knots. The gift of the bride to the groom was a gold wristlet watch. Mr. and Mrs. Oshyer intend leaving shortly for Brisbane, their future home."
