Louisa, known as Louise, was born on December 24th, 1853 in Banques, Guernsey and her baptism took place on January 15th, 1854 in The parish church of St. Sampson.1   Her godfather was Jean Langlois and her godmothers were Marie Birchard & Marie Ogier. Louise's father was Peter (Pierre) Ogier and her mother was Elizabeth (Betsey) Langlois.  Her paternal grandparents were Jean Ogier and Marie (Mary) Trachi; her maternal grandparents were James and Elizabeth. She had a brother and seven sisters, named Peter, Betsey or Betsy, Marie, Mary, Julie, Martha, Mary and Emma.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.
