"WEDDING Whiting— Harney. A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Francis Xavier R. C. Church, Railway Estate, by the Rev. Dean O'Keefe P.P., on Saturday 27th July at 4 pm. The bridegroom was Norman Hugh, second youngest son of Mrs. Whiting and the late Mr. F. J. Whiting of 10th Avenue, Railway Estate, and the bride was Catherine Irene, third youngest daughter of Mr. J. Harney and the late Mrs. J. Harney, Tangorin, Western Queensland. The bride was given away by her brother (Mr. Les. Harney) owing to the unavoidable absence of her father, and looked very graceful in a frock of white martette and lace moulded to the figure, the bodice featuring a cowl collar and relieved with silver posies. The wide sleeves were inlet with lace. The beautiful frock was accentuated by a silver plaited girdle and long fish tall train. The tulle veil (kindly lent by Mr. Dugard) was worn off the face with a coronet of orange blossoms. The bride carried a sheaf of arum and eucharist lilies finished with tulleand white inlet ribbon. Little Miss Elva Murphy who looked very dainty in a frock of golden wind swept satin, ankle length, held tbe bride's train. She also wore a halo of golden tinted blossoms and carried a tiny bouquet tied with gold ribbon. Miss Stella Harney 'maided her sister assisted by Miss M. Whiting (sister of the bride). They were frocked alike in brown ring velvet moulded in close fitting lines which fell away in flares from the knees to form a short train. The bodice featured the new square decolletage finished with a single gold lame rose at back of neck and long full sleeves opened from shoulder and completed at wrist with a tight band of gold lame. They added halos of golden velvet flowers to their toilettes. Their bouquets of golden shaded marguerites finished with contrasting tulle completed a very pretty ensemble. The bouquets were made by Mrs. Brady, South Townsvllle. The groom was supported by Messrs. Viv. Hadson. and Ernest Kydd (jnr.). Miss Irene Manson presided at the organ and played the "Wedding March" as the bridal party arrived and left the Church. During the signing of the re- gister, Hiss Rita Manson rendered an "Ave Maria" very sweetly. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was held at the bridegroom's mother's re sidence, 10th Avenue, presided over by the Very Rev. Dean O'Keefe. P.P."
