"MRS K. HEALY. - ROCKHAMPTON, October 18.
The many friends of the family learned with sincere regret of the sudden. death of Mrs Catherine Healy (printed as Katherine Healey), proprietress of the Imperial Hotel, Quay Street, which occurred last Thursday. Mrs Healy was a member of the Ryan family, one of the oldest and best known in Rockhampton. She was a daughter of the late Edward Ryan, who came from Ireland with his family of eight sons and two daughters in the Scottish Hero 61 years ago. She married the late John Healy, a baker, who predeceased her by nine years. She is survived by four children, three sons and one daughter, two daughters having died in young womanhood. Two of the sons, John and Kevin, live in Brisbane, and Marty and Marion resided with their mother.
Of the 10 Ryan children who came cut with their parents on the Scottish Hero four are still living, namely, Martin (East Street), Jerry (Yeppoon), Denis and William (New Zealand). Before acquiring the Imperial Hotel Mrs Healey conducted the Red Lion and Dunmore Arms Hotels for many years. Of a generous nature she performed many kindly acts in her long life. The funeral took place from St Joseph's Cathedral on Friday afternoon, the interment taking place at the North Rockhampton cemetery. Rev. Father Brown performed the last rites."
