In 1879, Sarah Alice was a witness at sister Ruth's marriage.

in 1880, Sarah A Mather of Brink's Brow married the Rev Reuben Handford

In 1861 he was named Benjamin on the census record.

Named Reuben for Marriage and thereafter, but appears to have been named Newton in 1871 before he became a Baptist Minister.  The F stands for "Finn" or "Frine" (on 1911 census).

In 1921, Reuben Finn and Sarah Alice were at Loughborough with daughter Esther Maud.

Thomas was the minister of Moor Lane Chapel from 1864 until it closed when it became too small and then of Claremont Baptist Chapel when it was built as a replacement in 1869.

In 1872 he left  Bolton and moved to Bloomsbury, London (source: Claremont Centenary Handbook of 1969).  He then emigrated to Toronto, Canada.
1839 Eliza Octavia Thornton Eliza's parents were William (b.1795 Corwick) and Mary (1799-1859, Pontifract), from Yorkshire. 1867 Frank Thornton Handford 1818 - 1881 William Handford 63 63 1819 - 1867 Esther Finn 48 48 1843 Samuel Handford Samuel had married and left home by 1861 1847 - 1896 Caleb Joseph Handford 49 49 Calib was in lodgings in 1871

1851 - 1851 Esther Finn Handford 6m 6m ~1795 - ~1876 William Thornton 81 81 Old William was a contractor for the railways, so travelled the country. We can trace where he was from the birthplace and christening records of their children: Portsea, Hampshire in 1821; Havant, Hampshire in 1823-25; Beverley, Yorkshire in 1827-32; Downham, Norfolk in 1836; Welton, Northampton in 1838; Royston, Yorkshire in 1839; Epping, Essex in 1842. He then appears to have returned to Yorkshire. Prudence married Thomas Kirkness in Pontefract in 1847 which is about 8 miles from Cowick where William was from. He was retired by 1861 and 1871 and predumed dead by 1881. 1799 - 1859 Mary Dunn 60 60 There are only 4 marriages in England 1817-21 (before Prudence was born).  Of the four, two are in Yorkshire and the Beswick marriage seems the most likely as it is only a few miles from Beverley where Mary was born.  Also, there was a Prudence Dunn visiting in 1851, which was therefore probably Mary's younger sister or her cousin. 1842 Joseph Trasham Arnold Thornton 1838 Frances Lucretia Thornton Frances up to 1861 and then Lucretia from 1871.  She stayed to look after her father with older sister Ann (or Annie), living in Monkhill, Pontefract in 1861 and 1871. 1836 Ruth D Thornton Ruth married in 1866 in Scarborough 1832 - 1901 Maria Gertrude Thornton 69 69 1830 Ann (Annie) Thornton Named Annie in 1871 1828 George Thornton 1827 - 1891 James Thornton 64 64 James emigrated to Australia sometime after the 1841 census and before the 1851 census. He married here in Aust.in 1852 and on his death certificate 1891 he had been in victoria for 40 years - unable to locate him on any shipping record or convict record - hope you can help  1825 William Thornton 1821 - 1890 Prudence Thornton 69 69 Prudence married Thomas Kirkness in Pontefract in Q4-1847.

Prudence Dunn was a visitor of her parents in Essex in 1851, but is not the same person (as she was unmarried and 5 years older).  She was most probably her mother's sister or cousin.

Prudence had at least 7 children with Thomas in Scarborough.  She died there in 1890, aged 69.
