This Richard was Christened in Worsley, so is assumed to be the one who married Martha Tyldesley and lived at Mather's Fold in Little Hulton.

William was still at Mather's fold, Little Hulton in 1861, widowed with sons John and Edwin (both coal miners).

Mathew was baptised at Peel Chapel in Little Hulton, wheras his older siblings were baptized in Worsley.  Perhaps the family moved (it is only a few miles), or maybe this child is of another family.
1830 Thomas Mullineaux "Molineux" (Baprism), "Mullineaux" (marriage), "Molineux" (1861 census), or "Mollenaux" (1871 census).  Usual spelling is Mullineaux.

This caused confusion as to what her name should be.  She was brought up as a "Mather", and used that name for the 1851 census and recording her childrens births, later changed to use the name "Thornley" after 1859 and on the 1861 census.

In 1841, Betty Mather (25) was in Little Hulton with Ann (6), James (4) and Joseph (11 months).

In 1851, Joshua Grundy (head, 42) was with Betty Mather (36, Servant) and 6 children shown as lodgers at Dunkirk, Hittle Hulton:  Ann (15), Thomas (12), Joshua (10), Sarah (8), Mary (3) and Ellen Mather (1), all born Little Hulton.

In 1861, Betty was named Betty Thornby and all the children were named Thornby, not Mather or Grundy.  However, all births between 1851 and 1861 are mother (and father) named Mather, so all are illegitimate, probably Joshua Grundy's who Betty is still living with.

In 1871, Betty (52) is now named Betty Thomley.  She is still with her 5 youngest: Mailce (19), Martha (18), Robert (16), William (14) and Sarah Jane (12).

There was also an Edmund Mather (1796-1830) from Rossendale which is assumed to be his son, or this is simply another family from Rossendale (possibly a son of Robert from Brindle).
1871 - 1873 Mary Mather 2 2 ~1750 Edmund (Edwin) Mather Edmund Mather of Worsley, a weaver. 1809 Elizabeth (Betty) Mather Elizabeth (Eliza) the daughter of Ellis Mather, was baptised at Eccles, married 1828 (replationship confirmed by christian names and household group).

This is probably NOT a Mather connection. 1786 Edmund Mather 7 May 1806, Edmund Mather, Weaver, married Betty Wilkinson at Bolton St Peter. 1876 John Mather UNCONFIRMED as marriage to Leah Evans seems likely, and no death for her, so may be wrong John for second marriage (who was from Bolton).

Possibly mother is Timperley (as births from Little Hulton)

In 1901, John (25) and Leah (22) were in Little Hulton with daughter Ellen (1 mo) and two other Evans family.

In 1921, John Mather (b.1876, Bolton) was with Marilda Mather (born 1873, Horwich) anf Ellis Jolley (b.1894, Bolton). John and Matilda Yardley had married in 1913 at Horwich.

In Jan 1837 Peter Mather married Sarah Goodwin.  Charles  Mather was witness.
