This Richard was Christened in Worsley, so is assumed to be the one who married Martha Tyldesley and lived at Mather's Fold in Little Hulton.

William was still at Mather's fold, Little Hulton in 1861, widowed with sons John and Edwin (both coal miners).
1797 - 1859 Martha Tyldesley 62 62 1797, born Martha Tildsley (or Tildesley), later known as Mattha Tyldesley (when married) 1822 - 1880 Ann Mather 58 58 Appears on 1841 and 1851 census.

Not baptised, and born before parents were married.

Ann had Thomas Mather (7 years older, born ~1815 lodging with her in 1861.  He may have been a cousin or uncle (but not a brother).

6 Sep 1863, John Mather (36), a miner, son of William Mather a labourer married Alice Lillington (31) the daughter of Thomas Millington a miner at St Mary's, Deane.
1865 Sarah Ann Mather 1867 Martha Alice Mather 1867 Caroline Mather 1871 John Mather 1874 Elizabeth Mather ~1824 Alice Mather Possibly died young as not on 1841 census, or Baptised Alice but known as Ann.  William was a Labourer, although for Alice the record shows he was a husbandman. 1825 Matthew Mather Possibly died young as not on 1841 census.

Mathew was baptised at Peel Chapel in Little Hulton, wheras his older siblings were baptized in Worsley.  Perhaps the family moved (it is only a few miles), or maybe this child is of another family.
1830 Thomas Mullineaux "Molineux" (Baprism), "Mullineaux" (marriage), "Molineux" (1861 census), or "Mollenaux" (1871 census).  Usual spelling is Mullineaux.

Like his father, Thomas was a miner from Little Hulton.  Coal miner in 1871.

In 1881 he appears, married to Elizabeth.

Ellis (or Elias) may have married Alice Eccles on 10 Apr 1792, but already had a son (James) on the way with Ann Thornley.  James was born just a few weeks later in May 1792.  Ellis married Ann Thornley the following year.

Ellis was at Mather Fold, Little Hulton in 1841, aged 65 (Ind).  Moses Mather (aged 15) was there.  Also his son William and his family.

1796 Alice Mather 9 Oct 1814, Alice married William Grundy 1801 John Mather 1805 - 1878 Ellis Mather 72 72 Ellis was a Wheelwright and Farmer at Mather's Fold, Little Hulton near Worsley.

In 1836, Ellis had a freehold house and land at Neworth Lane near EllenBrook Chapel, Little Hulton (UK Poll Book)

In 1851, Ellia (45) was a farmer of 18 acres of land at Mather's fold.  He had has son John (23, and not the same John as the son of William, also at Mather's fold). Also Ann (19), Frances (15), Ellen (10), Ellis (7) and Charles (6).

In 1871, Charles was 26 and a Coal Miner, living at Mather's Fold.
1851 Thomas Mather In 1871, Thomas was 19 and a Coal Miner, living at Mather's Fold. 1824 Moses Mather Moses was the illegitimate son of Ellis Mather, born 1824, several years before he married Elizabeth Cooke.  He initially lived with his grandfather Ellis (in 1841).

Moses was 15 in 1841, living with his (assumed) grandfather Ellis at Mather's Fold.

In 1844 Moses (son of Ellis) had married Ellen Hodson, and named his first son Ellis (aged 6 in 1844).  There was also James (4) and John (1).
1802 Alice Bradshaw 1828 William Mather 1833 John Mather In 1851, John (18) was a Coal miner with his father Thomas, a shoemaker at Ellenbrook, Little Hulton.

9 July 1859, John Mather (25), son of Thomas Mather married Alice Whittle (23), dau of James Whittle at Tyldesley, Lancashire.

In 1861, John and Alice (27 & 25) were at 26 Rock Street, South Bury with their daughter Elizabeth Ann (1). Sarah was with her grandparents back at Little Hulton.

Later in 1861 Betsy was born and her birth registered in Atherton. The family then relocated to Boothstown, Worsley where Betsy died, aged 3 months. Elizabeth also died there, aged 2.

In 1871, John and Martha (37 & 36) were living at 62  Boothstown Lane with Sarah (13), Thomas (9), James (6) and Edith (2) 
1835 Elizabeth (Betty) Mather Known as Betty on the 1841 census (when a child), but later as Elizabeth. 1839 Elias (Ellis) Mather 1831 Ann Mather Ann was aged 10 in 1841. 

By 1851, Ann had married Daniel Aldred, a brickmaker's labourer living with her.  They were living with Ann's parents.
1807 - 1877 Thomas Mather 70 70 In 1826 when Thomas married Ann Kirkham, he was a Cordwainer (Shoemaker).

In 1841, Thomas (30) was a coal miner, living at Ellen Brook, Little Hulton. 

By 1851 Thomas was a shoemaker, and still a shoemaker in 1861.
1830 Daniel Aldred 1828 - 1872 John Mather 44 44 Ellis and Moses are reoccuring names in this family.

In 1861, John was a Coal Carter (33)  with wife Martha (35, b. also Worsley) with 4 children (Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Ellis and Alice) and Mary Jane Mather (14, cousin)

John, Alice and family were at Mather's Fold in 1871. Parents Ellis and Elizabeth were also there (and several other families).
~1764 Martha Mort 1794 - 1794 Betty Mather ~1750 Mary Mather 1872 - 1874 Thomas Ellis Mather 2 2 Thomas probably died an infant, but death record has wrong age and middle initial so TBC 1864 - 1865 Martha Alice Mather 1 1 Martha Alice died before she was 1 year old 1815 - 1878 Betty Mather 63 63 Betty was the daughter of James Thornley, the illegitimate son of Ellis Mather. This caused confusion as to what her name should be.  She was brought up as a "Mather", and used that name for the 1851 census and recording her childrens births, later changed to use the name "Thornley" after 1859 and on the 1861 census.

In 1841, Betty Mather (25) was in Little Hulton with Ann (6), James (4) and Joseph (11 months).

In 1851, Joshua Grundy (head, 42) was with Betty Mather (36, Servant) and 6 children shown as lodgers at Dunkirk, Hittle Hulton:  Ann (15), Thomas (12), Joshua (10), Sarah (8), Mary (3) and Ellen Mather (1), all born Little Hulton.

In 1861, Betty was named Betty Thornby and all the children were named Thornby, not Mather or Grundy.  However, all births between 1851 and 1861 are mother (and father) named Mather, so all are illegitimate, probably Joshua Grundy's who Betty is still living with.

In 1871, Betty (52) is now named Betty Thomley.  She is still with her 5 youngest: Mailce (19), Martha (18), Robert (16), William (14) and Sarah Jane (12).

Betty died, May 1878, aged 63 and buried as Joshua Grundy's wife in the same grave.
1829 Caroline Mather 30 Nov 1854, John Jackson (22) a miner of Little Hulton, son of Ambrose Jackson, also a miner married Caroline Mather (24), daughter of James Thornley at St Mary's, Deane. 1820 Ellis Mather In 1840, Ellis Mather, son of James, married Margaret Pilling or Speakman. ~1795 Margaret (Peggy) Mather 1816 John Mather 1818 Thomas Mather 1831 Harriet Mather In 1861, Harriet Heyes had her father living with her. ~1810 Thomas Mather ~1810 Mary Bradshaw 1871 - 1873 Mary Mather 2 2 ~1750 Edmund Mather 1809 Elizabeth (Betty) Mather Elizabeth (Eliza) the daughter of Ellis Mather, was baptised at Eccles, married 1828 (replationship confirmed by christian names and household group).

Married James Grundy, and then continued to live with father at Mather's fold, Little Hulton in 1841.  Betty named her first son Ellis, named after her father.

In 1851, James and Elizabeth were publicans and had (and  were living at) the Railway Tavern, Green Lane, Worsley.  By 1861, then had moved to the Shaving Lane Public House is Worsley (then publican and farmer).
