In 1778, Thomas Mather, a potter from Prescot, and Elizabeth Garswood married at Farnworth.
~1755 Elizabeth Garswood 1801 - 1872 John Yates 71 71 John Yates was a Butcher and Farmer from Downham, near Preston, Lancashire. 1803 - 1866 Margaret Winwood 63 63 1833 - 1899 Ann Yates 66 66 James H Mather was a clogger in 1861 with wife "Martha", but Martha must have died as in 1881 he is a provision dealer and his wife is "Ann".  (James Mather, son of Isaac was also a Clogger in 1861).

By 1891 James and Ann had moved to Middle Hulton, now a retired grocer.  This explains why James and Ann are buried at Deane.

Missing census records. No death record for Martha (unless Newton le Willows) etc.

In 1858, Martha Williamson married James H Mather.

Martha Mather, born Knutsford 1829, is on the 1861 census with husband James H Mather and son John W (age 1).

Martha may have died, as James later married Ann Yates. However, there appears to be no death record, so perhaps she left him.

In 1863, Son Henry's parents were Mather and BROOM, but they appear to be unmarried.

Another Henry Mather was living with his mother Martha in 1911. This is probably another Henry son of Henry and Martha from Salford. This Henry was 4y older than his wife.
1859 Elizabeth Williams 1889 Eveline Mather In 1917, Eveline Mather married George Hoyle at the Holy Trinity, Bolton. Elsie also married there in 1929 1891 - 1948 James Henry Mather 56 56

In 1841, James Henry is missing, not with mother Jane at Drolysden, Manchester (so may not belong here, although father William is also missing).

In 1851, James (17) was an Apprentice clogger in lodgings followed by a clogger in 1861.  In 1861, another James Mather (aged 19) was a clogger, son of Isaac Mather at Wittaker's (i.e. Whittakers, Entwistle). That James died in 1861.
