Harry Toulmin (b. April 7, 1766), in Taunton, Somerset son of Joshua Toulmin, a noted Dissenting minister and Jane (Smith). Henry & Charlotte had John, Henry & James in 1813-26, all baptised at Chowbent Chapel.
1732 - 1795 Thomas Mather 63 63 Cant find a marriage for Thomas and Mary! 1768 Ann Mather 1776 Isabella Mather The Bolton marriage appears to fit to this Isabella.  Then there are baptism records for children of John and Isabelle Robinson from 1802 at Colne, Lancashire.

In 1841, John and Isabella (both 60) were at Bretherton, Croston, Leyland.  This is probably not John and Isabella Robinson.
1773 Jane Mather Jane married Thomas Webster, a weaver, in Leigh St Mary, 26 April 1791. 1760 Beatrice (Batrix) Mather 1782 - 1855 Charlotte Sidlow 73 73 Charlotte moved to Brinnington, Cheshire with her son Samuel (1851 census). 1813 - 1816 John Mather 3 3 1818 - 1819 James Mather 1 1 1826 Samuel Mather After his father died, Samuel moved to Brinnington, Cheshire (with his mother).  Samuel's mother married Thomas Hadfield 21 Aug 1836 in Cheadle, Cheshire. 1821 - 1824 George Mather 3 3 1824 - 1824 Robert Mather 6m 6m 1806 - 1810 Mary Mather 4 4 1824 Hannah Mather ~1780 Thomas Hadfield 1771 John Mather ~1770 Martha (Matty) Higginson Named Martha for baptism of first child Mary, but Matty thereafter.
1798 Beatrice Mather Beatrice married in 1824, and Sarah Mather was witness.  Who is Sarah? 1795 Thomas Mather In 1811, Thomas from Chowbent, b.1795, aged 16, was with the 33rd Foot Soldiers, in Canada (see Canada, British Regimental Registers of Service)

Beatirce (sister) is a unique name at these time.  She married at Farnworth in 1824.  It follows therefore, the marriages of Thomas (1820) and James (1829) are also at Farnworth.  However, the Thomas that married in 1820 was a Gardener, so perhaps he is an older semi-retired person.

Thomas and Catherine Lea did NOT move to Windle and have a son Thomas in 1830.  That was another couple who also had a daughter Mary in 1821, at Tontine Wesleyan.

Thomas and Catharine do not appear to have had any children.  Perhaps they relocated after marriage, although the 1851 death for Catharine at Leigh appears to be a match.
1793 Mary Mather 1802 James Mather Beatirce (sister) is a unique name at these time.  She married at Farnworth in 1824.  It follows therefore, the marriages of Thomas (1820) and James (1829) also at Farnworth are her brothers. However, who is James's witness William Mather? ~1755 Thomas Mather Thomas was probably the son or grandson of Mary and Thomas Mather born about 1709, a Clay Potter in Prestwich.

In 1778, Thomas Mather, a potter from Prescot, and Elizabeth Garswood married at Farnworth.
~1755 Elizabeth Garswood ~1775 John Robinson ~1792 Ralph Foster 1801 - 1872 John Yates 71 71 John Yates was a Butcher and Farmer from Downham, near Preston, Lancashire. 1803 - 1866 Margaret Winwood 63 63 1833 - 1899 Ann Yates 66 66 James H Mather was a clogger in 1861 with wife "Martha", but Martha must have died as in 1881 he is a provision dealer and his wife is "Ann".  (James Mather, son of Isaac was also a Clogger in 1861).

By 1891 James and Ann had moved to Middle Hulton, now a retired grocer.  This explains why James and Ann are buried at Deane.
1865 Ellen Mather Ellen's father was a Clogger.

In 1881 Ellen Mather, Dau, was at 66 Moor Lane, W Bolton, assistant shop keeper, aged 15.

Ellen Mather, a spinster at Morris Green, Middle Hulton aged 23 (born 1865), the daughter of James Hanet Mather (Gentleman) married John Mather (a clogger) at Deane Parish Church on 17 Oct 1888.
1829 James Yates 1827 Thomas Yates 1830 Mary Yates 1840 Sarah Yates 1835 Elizabeth Yates 1845 Jane Yates 1829 Martha Williamson WARNING: There may be two merged families here, with two James Henry Mathers.  Some things don't fit. Missing census records. No death record for Martha (unless Newton le Willows) etc.

In 1858, Martha Williamson married James H Mather.

Martha Mather, born Knutsford 1829, is on the 1861 census with husband James H Mather and son John W (age 1).

Martha may have died, as James later married Ann Yates. However, there appears to be no death record, so perhaps she left him.

In 1863, Son Henry's parents were Mather and BROOM, but they appear to be unmarried.

Another Henry Mather was living with his mother Martha in 1911. This is probably another Henry son of Henry and Martha from Salford. This Henry was 4y older than his wife.
1864 John Mather Ellen Mather, a spinster at Morris Green, Middle Hulton aged 23 (born 1865), the daughter of James Henry Mather (Gentleman) married John Mather (a clogger) at Deane Parish Church on Oct 17 1888.  Marriage recorded as "John Mather" son of "William Eckersley", a Collier (probably from Atherton) on John's marriage record.

1 June 1887, John and Ellen Mather were witness to John William Mather's marriage to Elizabeth Williams

~1750 Edward Mather ~1750 Betty Walch 1773 Betty Mather 1863 Henry Mather Henry married in 1883 and divorced Charlotte 8 years later in 1891.

It could be this John who died in 1927 (ttbc)

In 1881, John Wm Mather (21) was at 56 Moor Lane, W Bolton, assistant shop keeper, aged 21.
1861 John William Mather John William was 3 months in April 1861 1895 Ethel Barlow 1809 - 1856 James Mather 47 47 James and Margaret were from Wigan (see 1851 census), they married there in 1828 and the first children were born there.

In 1841, James Henry is missing, not with mother Jane at Drolysden, Manchester (so may not belong here, although father William is also missing).
