19 Feb 1849, George Stocks, 25, Delver, son of Job  married Rebecca Robinson, 24, spinster, dau of Robert Robinson of Milne Bridge, Linthwaite.

In 1851, George and Rebecca (27 & 24) are living at 32 Back Grosvenor St., Stalybridge, Lancashire (Castle Hall area) with 2 lodgers (George and Ann Gleddill) and 1m old son Samuel (born in Cheshire).

From 1851 to 1856, George and Rebecca had their 4 chirdren, with Albert registered at Hartshead and the others (Samuel, Sarah Jane and Walter) at Dukinfield. 

In 1856, George and "Rebecca" were living at 57 Grass Croft Street, Dukinfield (where son Walter was born).

Betweein 1856 and 1861, George and Rebecca moved from Stalybridge to Haslingden. In 1861 they had left Stalybridge and Joseph and Mary Ann Midword, another stone mason, was living there (district 27a).

In 1861, George (37, Head) a Stone Mason from Berry Brow, is with wife "Ann" (35), living at 128 Dowry Street, Haslingden, Old Accrington with sons Samuel and Albert (10 & 9, both labourers born Stalybridge).

Between 1861 and 1871, Rebecca Ann died, or was it earlier and the Ann in 1861 is another worman?

In 1871, George (48, Widower, Mason), lodging with son Albert (18) and Smith family (Joseph a grocer, wife Martha and two infants) at Gilstead, Bingley, Yorkshire.

George died in 1873 of phthisis (i.e. pulmonary tuberculosis or a similar progressive wasting disease).  His son albert was present at the death.

NOTE: Dont confuse another George Stocks (29, porter) from Huddersfield married to Rebecca (24) from Manchester in Birkenhead in 1861. They are too young.

In 1871, Robert Stott Drain (38) and Hannah (35) had son John (10), Lewis (13) and Sarah Terry (66, Motheri-in-law from Kirkland)

Winifred was a widow, her 1864 marriage certificate to John Draine has her as such with father’s name William Astley.

Robert Stott Watkins (1895-1963) was in the British Army: Kings Own Scottish Borders, Service No.241230. His older brother Thomas was a gunner.

1861 - 1953 John Draine 92 92 John was born in 1861 at Chapel Lane, Goodshaw.  John is the only baptised son of Robert and Ann, and there is a suspicion if Robert didnt have children, that John he may have been the illegitimate son (e.g. of George Stocks, explained by DNA).

1885 to 1893, John and Elizabeth lived in Rossendale. However, in 1888 there son John R was registered in Sharples. From 1895, the last two births are registered in Rawtenstall.

In 1901, John and Elizabeth only had 3 surviving children; Mary M (15), Alice H (9) and Walter (1).
1928 - 2017 John (Jack) Alfred Watkins 88 88 1921 - 2004 Dorothy Watkins 83 83 in 1939, Dorothy Watkins was living with Robert S and Jack at Rawtenstall 1863 Elizabeth Knowles Daughter of John Knowles and Jane Abbot.  The third of 10 children.

In 1871, Elizabeth (8) was with her parents John and Jane (28 & 29), 5 siblings and her cousin Joseph Knowles (9).  The family wee from Blackburn and had moved to Higher Booths around 1866.

In 1881, John and Matilda Knowles (38 & 40) were at Higher Booths with 9 children including Elizabeth (18 and single).

John died in 1891 at Waterloo, Bolton where the Mather family lived in 1841. The 50 year gap means there is no connection.

In 1861, a year after they were married, Jane and John Knowles lived with Jane's mother.  Jane was ther daughter of Elizabeth (Betty) Abbott from Samlesbury (between Preston and Blackburn).  Her father Henry was born about 1801 and had died by 1861.

There was a Josiah Taylor (38) at 90 Howell Croft, Bolton in 1851. He was a Clerk for an Overseer. He was with his mother Betty Taylor (77) and widowed sister Esther (57).  This is probably the same Josiah Taylor, Book Keeper of Little Bolton, son of Josiah an Overseer, who married Anne Medcalf the same year.

1893 - 1982 Harry Hargreaves 89 89 Harry was well educated, from a family of scientists.  In 1911, brother Frank (23) was a Chemistry Student and brother Harry (20) studied Geology.

In Oct 1922 (before their son was born), Harry and Doras, both aged 29, living at the Bath Arms Hotel, Minsterley, Shropshire sailed second class via Kilionidini to Uganda.

In 1925, Harry (an Entomologist, aged 32) lived at Lindens, Ashford, Kent.  He sailed with wife Doris J (32) and son "Master Gerald" (aged 2) to Mombassa on the (British India) Matiana. He was on his way to Uganda.

In 1944, Harry aged 51, arried Liverpool from Uganda via Port Said, Egypt. His address was c/o Crown Agents, Millbank, London (as was a Civil Servant).

In 2003, Harry was in Victoria Nursing Home, Thursby Road, Burnley, BB10 3AU
1893 - 1969 Doras Jane Kynaston Lee 76 76 June (J.E.) Evelyn Hargreaves 1854 - 1931 John George Lee 76 76 Doras shows har father as John George Lee, a Farmer.  She was 27 and living at 9 Lord Street, Chester when she married Harry in London, 1920.

John George (indexed J) Lee 36 and Emily 38 were Inn Keeper in 1890, with John's mother Elizabeth Lee, Wid, 68, Retired Inn Keeper.  They lived at the Bath Arms Hotel, Minsterly, where John finally died in 1931.
1853 - 1935 Emily Adams 82 82 Emily was the daughter of Richard Adams 1919 Barbara Mary Constance Hopewell Barbara was a biologist, and lived at 17, Blossom Way, UB10 9LL 1856 - 1940 Thomas Hargreaves 83 83 Thomas was the son of William Hargreaves, or was he?  I have DNA matches to two of his descendants, but none of his many ancestors.  His mother Susannah may have had affairs, and she didnt live with her husband.

Thomas (a cotton drawer) and Mahala lived in Burnley all their married life.  Mahala was born in Devon.

In 1871, Another Thomas W (14, so same age) and brother Joseph (11) were living with their mother Susannah (M, 42), a smallware dealer.  Susannah may have been living independantly.  This was Thomas Walker Hargreaves, a tin-plate worker and his brother Joe, a piano dealer.

In 1901, Thomas (44), Mahala (39) and four children were at 60 Glebe Street, Burnley.  Thomas was a cotton drawer and spinner.

In 1911, Thomas (48), Mahala (42) and family were living at 21 Lansdowne Rd, Burnley.  They had been married 25 years and had 7 surviving children with them (2 children had died).

In 1930, his son Allan traveled to Quebec, Canada. He recorded his father Thomas Harrgreaves of 21 Lansdowne St, Burnley, Lancs.

In 1916, Frank married Margaret McHale in a Leeds Registered Building (RB/195/173), so one may have been married before. Son Geoffrey Errington Hargreves was born the following year (17-Sep-1917).

in 1939 Frank (born 15-Sep-1887) is a Technical Chemist at Southampton married to Margaret (born 14-Apr-1891).  He lived at 9 Avon Road. They have a son Geoffrey (b.1917) who is a lab technician.

In 1920, Ernest and his wife Catherine Hargreaves were witness to Harry's marriage.

In 1939, Ernest (born 2-Dec-1889) was retired at only 50. Catherine and another were present. They were living at 24 York Road, Southport. They moved up the road to Blackpool  which is where Ernest died 8-Dec-1974, leaving £7001.

Sidney H Bagley died at Amersham in 16 Dec 1970.  His son John H Bagley is also deceased.

Allan appears to have married in Canada.  he had a son Bruce Dexter, born 30-9-1941 in Victoria, BC.

In 1851 John Lomax a railway plater and Martha (26 & 25) had daughter Sarah Lever (5), John Lomax (2), Jacob (8mo) and John's mother Ann (68, pauper, warehouse woman)

In 1871, John (46, Pawnbroker, born Harwood) and Martha were at 333 Blackburn Road with all six children.

in 1881 John (56, Pawnbroker and Counterplane Manufacturer) and Martha and family were at 347 Blackburn Road. There was also John Lomax (47, Pawnbroker) living at 24 Grosvener Street, Bolton married to Betsy with son Walter and daughter Mary

In 1891, John Lomax (66, Pawnbroker, born Harwood) was a widower, still living at 347 Blackburn Road with Sarah (45), Mary (30) and Thomas D (25).  Also, In 1891, John Lomax (67, Pawnbroker and General Dealer, born Bolton) was married to Betsy (57) at 144 St George's Road, Little Bolton with a single daughter Mary. This other John died 29 June 1891 (next of kin Walter John Lomax). 

Was John a biggamist?  Probably not !

1 June 1933, Edwin Richardson (32), an Analytical Chemist, Bachelor, 84 Dallas Road, Lancaster married Martha A Haddock at Bolton, St. George's Road Congregational Church.

Edwin and Martha lived in Sweden and had two sons, Thomas and George (born in Sweden - TBC).

About 1887, John married Mary Marion Landsborough Rankin, probably married before (TBC).  They had a son John William in 1890 that died and in 1891 had a daughter Jessie (another child died).  MMN = RANKIN.  They had been married 24 years in 1911.

John Died 6 March 1925.  He left £58 to May Marion Landsborough Lomax, widow of Joseph Gregory Haddock.

In 1881, (possibly another) William Buckley (14) and Elizabeth Young (13) and their families were neighbours at Little Budworth.  Another William (14) was a servant for Ellen Moss at Little Budworth.  However, both these Williams are born at Little Budworth.

In 1889, William married Elizabeth Young at Great Budworth St Mary.  They soon had a son Samuel who died an infant.

In 1891, William and Elizabeth (25 & 23) were at 1 Rathbones Place, Castle Northwich.  William was a General Labourer.
