- Death Notes
- Alice was killed y a land mine in a German Air Raid in her own house in Boundary Road, Port Sunlight during WW2. She was found on the stairs clutching a blanket. The bedspread was found hanging from a telegraph pole. I have a blue vase from their house (which came via May Dittmer).
Two boarders staying in Port Sunlight village with her had just left the house when the air raid warning went off. By the time they returned, it was too late.
Tony Beards reports "Alice Dittmer did indeed die in Port Sunlight - but thought it was a retirement home for people who worked for Sunlight Soap"
