Lovely cream lilies emphasised the sheer witness of Miss Ellen Mather’s Beautiful satin heau gown at her wedding to Mr. Arthur Cecil Bayley, son of the late Mrs. Bayley and Mr H Bayley of Farm-road, Birkenhead, on Saturday.
The wedding took place at Mount Tabor Church, Higher Tranmere, and the bride, who resides at 45 Thompson-street Birkenhead was given away by her father. She is the eldest daughter of Mr. And Mrs. John Mather, and is popular amongst a large circle of friends.
The Rev. J. Grainger officiated and Miss Miller provided the muster at the organ. The hymn “O Perfect Love” was sung and the church was beautifully decorated for the occasion.
A small diamante broach was the only relief to the sparkling sheen of the gown worn by the bride which was cut on modern lines favouring a capulette ?????? which drooped gracefully over the sleeves, which were originally flourished with chic points of silk material. The conventional was again forsaken by the choice of cleverly arranged orange blossom which interlaces into a ????? head piece and hung gracefully to her feet. Cream lilies were carried by the bride, who was attended by three attractive bridesmaids, the Misses Norah and Jessie Mather (sisters of the bride, and Miss Dorothy Harrop friend of the bride).
Contrasting shades of crisp organdie were their choice and unique belts of soft material, cut on ???? lines, made a fashionable finish to a smart ????. Lace mittens to tone and perky cap of petal origin following the fashionable berel tiue matches the dainty posies which held in smart line their double epaulettes. Pink carnations and smilax formed their bouquets.
The reception which was held at the brides home, the bride’s mother was becoming in an elephant grey gown of patterned silk. A smart note was in the twisted de???llete of red and grey which was repeated in the belt. Novel epaulettes ended at the waist and were repeated on the duting sleeves. A becoming chapeau trimmed with a cluster of flowers to tone was a further choice of the bride’s mother.
Other guests were Mrs Walter Stocks, Miss Freda Harrop, Miss Gladys Stocks, Miss Eileen Mather.
The best man was Mr. Bayley and Messrs. Gus Bayley, Albert and Walter Mather were ushers.
To travel, the bride chose an attractive gown of striped silk, cut on smart lines and a salmon pink coat trimmed with a sowl of summer fox to tone. A chapeau of matt straw daintily trimmed with the salmon pink shade completed a fashionable ensemble.
