Ann's father was Walter Welsby and her mother was Maria Bolton.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Bolton and Mary Whitaker. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Josiah, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary and Ann.  She was the youngest of the six children.
