Catherine, daughter of William of Upper Darwen may have been young (i.e. aged only 10 to 12) when she married Edmund in 1714. This marriage occured before the modern-day marriage acts of 1694 and 1735 and later, so possible but unliokely.
Catherine the daughter of Thomas of Lower Darwen, baptised 1693 is more likely.
Catherine and Edmund were married in a religious ceremony on January 6th, 1714 in Blackburn.1
