General Notes
- Note: This is not the Thomas Mather and Catherine Lawton family (1844-1920). They married 1864 at Christ Church, Bolton.
  
  In 1868, Thomas Mather married Catherine Burton.
  
  Son Joseph Mather was born and died the same year, with the birth and death registered at Tonge with Haulgh.
  
  In 1877, There was another (James) Mather that married Elizabeth Alice Burton at Higher Walton, All Saints, Preston and they had a son James there the same year, followed by Mary Alice, John, Thomas (and more). This is another family.
  
  Thomas and Catherine had no other children (in England and Wales).
