Thomas may be the brother of James Mather who married Martha Entwistle. They had the same witnesses; Thomas Vickars & registrar James Livesey.
In 1765 Thomas fell into hard times. On 15th June 1765, following Poor Law, an order (petition) was made returning Thomas, his wife Elizabeth and their daughter Mary, aged 8 months from Longworth to Turton.
Thomas was a Widower when he married Hannah Platt on 1 Jan 1781. Marg't, wife of Thomas Mather of G.B. was buried 21 Feb 1779.
