This is the corrrect record for this Peter. It cant be his grandson (b.1767), who continued to have children after 1789.

Possibly son of John of Little Hulton. (Another Peter, son of John of Little Hulton was buried in 1736)
14 June 1757, Peter Mather a weaver married Betty Mayo. Their witness was James Marsh, a widower who married Alice Slater 22 December 1757 (i.e. same year).
