She died in Little Hulton in 1848, soon after the birth of her daughter Hannah, aged 18.

In 1827, Mary, daughter of Henry Mather a (coal) miner married John Ashton when she was only 17 and probably expecting..
In 1848, Mary had a daughter Hannah Ashton. The child survived, but Mary died just 18y old. Its likely Hannah was brought up by her grand-parents.
