Ann was much (22y) younger than James, but its clear from the 1861 census Ann (36) daughter of of Joseph and Mary Leah was the wife of the paper maker, Joseph Mather (58) living with them.
Ann and James were married in a civil ceremony in April 1840 in Chorlton-cum-Hardy.2
