James and Elizabeth were married at Chester in 1825.
In 1828, Sarah, assumed to be the first child, was baptised at Harthill. This is the main reason why we believe it is this Elizabeth Brereton, wife of James. However, she was baptised Betty.
From 1831 to 1840. James and Elizabeth had four more sons, all assumed to be born at Tarporley (there are no other Harthill baptisms).
In 1841, James and Elizabeth (both 35) were at Riddle Heath, Tarporley with Sarah (12), John (10), Richard (7), James (5) and Thomas (1).

James and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on January 30th, 1825 at St. Oswalds (Chester).1 They had four sons and a daughter, named John, Richard, James, Thomas and Sarah.
