Jane's father Abraham Hardman was a brewer, so quite handy since Jane's father was a publican. Her mother's maiden name was Hayden, so later known as Jane Hayden Hardman (or Mather).
In 1871, Jane died, aged only 26, a few months after giving birth to John Hayden Mather.
