Mary was born in 1856 in Tarbock.¹

  Lancashire 1854 to 1857 gives 3 matches (below) but both are impossible as married mothers with maiden names Low, Meacock and Fisher: There is only one illigitimate Mary Ann Grace birth registered, but that is in Hungerford (too far away).

  Instead, Mary may be a child of William Bolshaw from an earlier marriage as he appears much older than Ann. There are four Lancashire possibilities (but none close to Tarbock, East Liverpool):

She was adopted by William Bolshaw & Ann (Nancy) Grace. She was also adopted by Thomas Grace & Ann Norcross. She died at the age of 68 on November 15th, 1924 in Ontario.²

General Notes
- Mary is the illegitimate daughter of Ann Grace. William Balshaw (grocer) may not be her father, but instead another William (a coal miner).
  
  When she married, Mary recorded her father as William Grace, miner and was living at 13 Hawkinson Street, Wavertree. It could be her father was a William and a grocer, not a miner, who died soon after her parents married.
  
  In April 1861, Mary Grace (5, daughter) was with mother Ann and step-father William Bolshaw (a grocer's assistant). They had just married 10th February and were living at Highfield Road, West Derby.
  
  Ann and new husband John Potter were still there in 1864 when son James was born.
  
  The marriage didnt last long. William Bolshaw died in 1862 and Ann remarried the following year.
  
  In 1883, Mary maried William Gore. Mary's father was William Grace, a miner.

Occupation Details
- From 1881 Mary's occupation was Laundry in Wavertree.
