- Dr Leopold Friedrich was born in Königsberg, Prussia. He was only 10 when his father died, and his mother sent him to be educated at a High School in Berlin. He bacame a doctor in Königsberg in the Army after studying at the Charité Military University in Berlin.

  Leopold came to Brodnica (now Poland) in 1827 from Susza, where from 23 Oct 1825 he had worked as a district doctor.
