Selina was born on September 3rd, 1818 in Huddersfield and her baptism took place on December 8th, 1818 in Highfield (Independent) conducted by William Moorhouse.¹

Selina's father was John Crosland and her mother was Elizabeth West. Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Crosland and Mary Kinder. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Henry, John, Martha, Ellen, Elizabeth and Sarah. She was the oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 41 in January 1860 in Huddersfield. Her burial was on January 2nd, 1860 in Highfield (Independent).²³
