Ellis Compton 
Ellis was born in 1856 in Halliwell.1 Ellis' father was James Crompton and his mother was Margaret Mather. His maternal grandparents were Richard Mather and Ann Marsden. He had three brothers and a sister, named James, Richard, Benjamin and Ann. He was the third oldest of the five children.General Notes
In 1891, Ann, Ellis and Richard were still single and with their mother.
