Ernest was born on August 6th, 1865 in Sandbach.1  Ernest's father was Edwin Brereton and his mother was Mary Ann Tobin. He had five brothers and four sisters, named James, George, Thomas, Alfred, John, Mary, Ann, Emma and Bertha.  He died at the age of 72 on March 23rd, 1938 in Tattenhall.  He was buried in March 1938 at St. Alban (Tattenhall).2
