Hendrica was born on January 22nd, 1856.  Hendrica's father is Louis Botha and her mother is Salomina Adrianna Van Rooyen.  Her paternal grandparents are Philip Rudolph Botha and Anna Johanna Nel. She has six brothers and six sisters, named Philip, Gert, Louis, Christiaan, Theunis, Hermanus, Anna, Susanna, Salomina, Louisa, Johanna and Maria.  She is the sixth oldest of the thirteen children.
