Descendants of's father is Hur ben Caleb ben Hezron and his mother is מרים. His paternal grandparents are Caleb ben Hezron ben Pharez and Ephrathah bint Machir; his maternal grandparents are עמרם and יוכבד. He is the oldest of four children. He has three brothers named Salma ben, Shobal ben and Uri ben.
