Jewetts of America - Alfred Leon Jewett

A Record of Edward Jewett, of Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, and of his two emigrant sons, Deacon Maximilian and Joseph Jewett, Settlers of Rowley, Massachusetts, in 1639 also of Abraham and John Jewett, Early Settlers of Rowley, and of the Jewetts who have settled in the United States since the year 1800.
5787 ALFRED LEON JEWETT (Luther H.xxxx, Hollandxxxx, Joseph M.767, Benjamin2xx, Benjaminxx, Nehemiah1x, Joseph4, Edward1), was born in Columbus, Kan., Feb 3, 1871. He married there Sept. 23, 1902, Mamie Lucinda Armstrong, who was born in Donaldson, Ill., Sept. 23, 1877, daughter of James H. and Hannah (Lindly) Armstrong. Mr. Jewett was educated in teh common schools, and after teaching a short time, spent two years in the State University of Kansas. He again took up teaching, but on account of poor health, retired to the farm. He has since been employed in the office of the County Treasurer, and in Real Estate Abstract and Insurance Business. He has always been active in religious work and is an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and a local preacher. Resides in Columbus.
