Edna's father was James Zachary Purvis and her mother was Kate Skinner.  Her paternal grandparents were H. James Purvis and Nancy Elizabeth Azbill.  She is the third of six children.  She has five brothers named John Wilson, Alfred Thomas, Frank, Joseph and Lewis.
