John was born in 1816.  John's father was John Kemp or Camp and his mother was Nancy Bicknell.  His maternal grandparents were Samuel Bicknell and Anne Parks.  He was the third of four children.  He had a brother and two sisters, named James, Nancy and Joanne.  He died at the age of 48 in 1864.
