Ambrose was born in 1849.  Ambrose's father was Benjamin Keith and his mother was Clara or Clarissa Ellen Asbell.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Asbell and Sarah Sally Hulen.  He was the seventh of eight children.  He had five brothers and two sisters, named Francis Marion, Thomas Azbell, John Hinton, Jeptha, Benjamin Franklin, Nancy and Arminda Willis.  He died at the age of 18 in 1867.
