George was born in 1674.  George's father was Simon Hancock and his mother was Susannah Asball.  His maternal grandparents were George Asball Sr. and Mary Markes.  He was the fourth of seven children.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named Simon, Asball, William, Mary Margaret, Elizabeth and Dinah.
