Samuel Nelson was born on May 11th, 1835.  Samuel Nelson's father was Young Landrum Bicknell and his mother was Barbara Moore Blackburn.  His paternal grandparents were Micajah Bicknell and Phoebe Ann Landrum.  He was the sixth of eleven children.  He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Guilford Canon, William Harrison, George Eagleton, Margaret Jane, Mary Elizabeth, Nancy Amanda, Phoebe Ann, Flora Albina, Sarah Louvenia and Rhoda Adelaide.  He died at the age of 26 on February 15th, 1862.
